Excuse me?
« on: October 14, 2005, 04:45:53 PM »
Standard day, go in to school at 9:20 and go into AP US Gov and Politics, really great class.  Throughout the year the class has become progressively bad, more talking, less people doing the reading.  Today seemed like the last straw though, he wasn't nearly as sarcastic as he normally is, which is something I really enjoy about my teacher and being in that class.  It started out with a grand explanation about Bob, the Cialis guy.  After that we did the standard Friday current events quiz and then to studying, which of course, most people took the opportunity to screw around.

After 15 or so minutes of this he decided to start quizzing people or groups of people as it was.  The first group clearly knew notjhing about the reading judging from his remarks about them needing to do the homework.  On this went for a few more minutes before he went to the front of the room and slammed a text book on a table making a sound similar to a large balloon popping.  This was followed by a 10 minutes lecture in which he said he would not fail to make us fail if we did not read and that he did not care if we passed the upcoming test or not.  All of this was concluded with him saying, "This is bull****" and leaving the classroom for 10 minutes.

I thought he might have quit his job right there on the spot.  I almost laughed.

He tried to be a nice guy, and as usual the kids took all the advantage they could and started to screw off.

Lesson, if you are a teacher, and DON'T run your class like a concentration camp, the dweebs will take advantage, blow off the work and not get an education on anything more meaningful than 'how to screw off'.

That's what i'm saying.  He's probably one of the best teachers i've had, knows about politics (worked for some congressman from Michigan earlier in his life) and yet no one gives a care about it.  In fact I don't even know how he puts up with some of the kids in my class to tell you the truth.  ANd the loud ones are the ones that sit in front too.....3 girls always talk in back though.
