skuzzy AMD64 Cpu utilization
« on: November 25, 2005, 09:54:11 PM »
Hey skuzzy , ive been looking at cpu utilization when running AH2 , it seems to jump from 100% to 90% at a regular beat. The other 10% is going to system idle proccess. All other directX games ive tried keep it pegged at 100% constantly .Could this be a source of the stutters alot of amd64 guys are having ? Ive tested it with a fresh reformat , just to rule out spyware and viruses .

Other AMD64 owners , can you check yours for me and post if you see the same thing. Just fire up AH, then alt-tab out , then control -alt - delete to task manager, click on the performance tab and watch the cpu utilization and see if it drops from 100 to 90 % . please post your specs if you see the same thing    Thx  all     38

I have an AMD64 with both WinXP Pro and XP64... on and offline I get 100% CPU utilization with regular XP Pro at all times unless I use my view keys to change fields then it can drop quite a bit... at one point, it dropped to 75% or so.

I cannot alt tab with WinXP64 to check, as it causes AH to crash instantly (and I posted this in the bug section).

I have;

AMD 64 4000+
ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe
(4) 1 GIG CORSAIR XMS
(1) Nvidia 7800 256meg
AUDIGY2 ZS

Try looking at the CPU use both while sitting in the tower and while using views... huge difference. Common sense tells me the CPU use should stay at a high % or at least not drop anyway...
