An idea for Squads in Squad Ops.
« on: December 10, 2005, 11:43:18 AM »
What if we were to have a page that listed some information on the squads in Squad Operations? If a player wanted to fly in Squad Ops and wanted to look over the squads what would be some good questions to ask?

Let me list a few questions and if this works out I will ask 68Falcon, Ghostdancer, and forHIM about putting up a page about our squads.

1. Is your squad accepting applications for new members in Squad Ops?
2. Does your squad prefer to fly Allied or Axis?
3. How many does your squad usually have in a frame?
4. On a scale from 1 to 10 how would you rate your squad in their seriousness of Squad Operations?
1-being not serious at all, just out to have fun.
10-being very serious and very competitive. Winning is everything.

Don’t really like the wording of #4. Maybe someone can say it better than I.

5. Do you practice (if possible) during the week for the upcoming frame in Squad Ops?

Other questions? You guys think this would be worth while to have a page for squad descriptions?

I think it’s a great Idea. It will also be nice for the new squad C.O.’s who doesn’t know all the squads to be able to better utilize their talents.

6. What is your squad’s greatest contribution to FSO?

I must admit I have been doing FSO now for almost 2 years and I am not familiar with all of the squad’s best talents. Most of the large ones yes, they are easy but some of the smaller ones it can be difficult to keep track of. I for one would love to see this implemented.

Good idea daddog. And Rhino's #6 is a must IMHO. Being from a smaller FSO squad the CiCs rarely task us with the main objectives and often use us for CAP disruption. We sometimes measure success by how many we take with us and how far off the beaten path we drag em before we get wacked. A quick glance at the logs don't show this unless you're looking for it. Although I'm not sure we'd want to be know as a CAP fodder squad :)  Not saying that we haven't been given other missions, just that foward scout, CAP and CAP disruption are the obvious choice for using small squads.

Contact information for the registered squads should be on the page.

4 is ok, but you might want to take out "winning is everything"

4. On a scale from 1 to 10 how would you rate your squad in their seriousness of Squad Operations?
1-being not serious at all, just out to have fun.
10-being very serious and very competitive.

What about making #6 a little more specific.

6. Does your squad favor heavy bomber missions,  fighter escort / CAP, or a mixture of both?

Question #2 reword to "Does your squad have a preference for Axis or Allied side?

This allows a squad to declare no preference for either side.

Any final thoughts?

1.   What is your Squads Name?
2.   What is the call sign of your C.O.?
3.   What is the call sign of your X.O.?
4.   Web address if any?
5.   Are you accepting new members?
6.   Do you prefer to fly Allied, Axis, or it does not matter?
7.   What is your average Friday Squad Operations attendance?
8.   What role does your squad prefer in Friday Squad Operations?
Level bombing, fighter escort, fighter sweeps, ground attack etc.
9.   On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your squad?
One – Loosely organized, relaxed.
Ten – Tactically oriented and highly competitive.
10 . Does your squad have a squad time out side of Squad Operations?
11. How long has your squad been a member of Squad Operations?

Not sure how this would be placed on our events server. If forHIM has the time he would design a drop down menu I would think, but maybe we would just send out a form for squads to fill out and then put the squad information up on the site.
