Only the price is :)
except d50 uses newer 3dcolormatrix2 engine and is usb2.0
the body isnt metal

but there isnt really a difference between picture quality.
i guess the d70 kit also comes with a bit better lens.

i recommend the D50 to anyone :)

Well, there is alittle more difference between the two...
FPS is slower on the D50, 2.5 FPS compared to 3 with the D70 (Makes a huge difference if you shoot action shots)

Shutter speed goes up to 1/4000 on the D50, whereas the D70 goes to 1/8000.

The D70 has the built in SB commander mode whereas the D50 does not have this feature.

The D70 has a depth of field preview button and the D50 does not have this feature. This allows the user to stop the lens aperture down to a value selected by the user or a value the camera will select when using a CPU lens attachement.

The D50 is limited to a SD memory card where the D70 can use CompactFlash (CF) Card (Type I and II) and Microdrive type cards.

If you can live without those differences then the D50 is perfect for you!.

its my brothers car with an 2.2 litre double weber. porsche fan (a summer car)

he hasnt really drove much in it as he wants to sell it in the future

The D70 does have some more manual functions too.
But the D50 is good for me i stepped up from a coolpixSQ pocket camera.
and that half frame less per second i guess its still about getting the lucky shot

unfortunaly that one is broke but ill have it repaired becoz its handy small and really fits in ur pocket.

U cant go wrong with a nikon

I hope i outgrown my camera and learn from it but than we talk some years further.
