Noobie here
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:15:26 AM »
I am new as of 01/21/2006 and I love this game, but I have a few questions for you that I am unable to find when I look into the help.

1.  How do  you exit the game without using Ctrl+Alt+Del ?

2.  Am I supposed to land when I run out of bullets?

3.  Why am I in an American plane shooting down American planes?

4.   I am using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick....  What do you use?

I would very much appreciate some feedback.

Thanks!

1 You must land or bail and return to tower to press quit on the clipboard. 2 Would be best. 3 Everyone flyies their prefference-  except perk rides that are earned. This is an aireal combat sim based around WWII aircraft, not a WWII sim- but their working on that too(well sort of). 4 Saitek X45. 5 Please post such questions in the Help and Training forum. This one is for perceived flaws in the game play.

Welcome to AH2 liquidsteel!

1. When back in tower, go to your clipboard (ESC key). Click on QUIT to exit back to arena selection screen, another two clicks on QUIT to exit to desktop. (The Ctrl Alt Del/Alt F4 method might screw up your installation when used continually - not recommended)

2. To get bullets reloaded you can do two things. Either land/bail/crash, tower out and simply spawn a new plane. Or you land at a friendly airfield, taxi to the end of the runway and stop in the yellow rearm pad on the tarmac (next to the small building and fuel tank). Stop there for 30 secs (you get messages "weapons and fuel reloading" and "weapon and fuel reload complete").

3. In the main arena anything goes as far as plane choice is concerned. If you are interested in historical plane setups, i recommend you stop by the Axis vs Allied Arena (right now they have a Battle of Britain Setup running). The AvA has weekly changing historical matchups. Another place to go for that kind of matchup is the Special Events Arena. In the SEA, youll find weekly snapshots and Squad OPS, as well as multi frame Special Events. Check out the corresponding Forums for more info.

4. Im using a rather cheap Speedlink setup, but am currently thinking about upgrading to a Saitek.

For lots of more info about AH, check out HTC help file, Hammers Net Aces, the Help and Training forum or just come by the training arena.

PS: As this is not really a game bug, the post should go to the Help and Training Forum ;).

Welcome Liquidsteel!

Just an addition to some of your questions.  The advantage to landing is if you have any kills, you get more points on your score and more perks (used to fly special panes).  It also makes your statistics look better if you land them.

You will find many people using programable Hands On Throttle and Stick (HOTAS) sticks.  With the many button commands needed, these make it possible to do about everything without taking your hands off the controls to hit buttons.  The 3 top ones are Saitek (X45..X??), CH, and TM Cougar.  I use the Cougar

Thanks for the input!

I think once I learn how to land this plane, I'll really be ready for some fun combat.  I went into training, but I still need to practice those 7 point landings down to only three or four :lol .

I will also make sure I post my questions and concerns in the appropriate forum.  :aok
