Actually this is a great Winter Games for the USA.

We got a lot of medals in 2002, but every host country does.

We have blown chunks in the Winter Games in the past.
2006 - 23 so far
2002 - 34
1998  - 13
1994 - 13
1992 - 11
1988 - 6

1980 - 12 (as the host Country)
1976 - 10

Damn... Finland should get that one gold medal.  (Wouldn't get us any higher in the total counts - but these are about the only Winter Olympics we haven't had a gold medal yet in 60 or so years!)

Put your money on the Canucks for Whistler/Vancouver.  If history holds up and they get the traditional home country kick, they could very well come out #1 in 2010.

Good Wintergames!
