under powered .50 cals

i have noticed when ever i fly a fighter that has 50 cals on it they seem weak. i have been in a p 51 and emptied my ammo on 1 enemy fighter and not even make him smoke. i know i hit them at least 60 percent of the time.

Are your bursts of fire concentrated on a specific area of the enemy AC, or are your hits spread out all over?  That has a lot to do with how much it takes to bring down a plane.

IŽd like to see a film of this...
60% hits while spending all ammo would be an outstanding accomplishment! Even the best jocks here can only dream of of an over all percentage of more than 20. Even if you see a lot of hits, you wont see all those misses. Was it a fight in the MA? TA? Sshooting at drones? At what distance you fired, was enemy manoeuvering, what was your convergence range?
