Hi

here is a dumb newbi question. When have a target locked in padlock
view do you shoot the retangle box or the plane itself?

I think he means "Friendly lock," aka the lead computed gunsight. You shoot the box.

Aim for the plane and not the boxed icon near it. If you have the LCG on, then place the green + just ahead of the target.
That is if I read your question correctly.
If you have padlocked an enemy in MA or a fighting arena, lead the plane.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

The question sounds quite straight forward to me and correctly stated.  In padlock view, you will see a box around the icon name.  You need to aim for the aircraft and not the box.

One tip, if you can make out the wings and tail of the aircraft, you are most likely not in range to shoot.
