Bummer of a week
« on: January 27, 2001, 05:24:00 PM »
Man this has been the week from hades. I hope the next one picks up some

The wife had some surgery a week ago Friday to correct problems with the bone on her lower jaw and upper gums. The results were that she would be able to retain almost all her own teeth in the next few years.. It also was extremely painful and has remained so for the entire week. She can't eat or even get a full nights sleep even with the heavy pain pills. She still has problems with the cancer surgeries in the last year and is dealing with chemo reactions.

Finally got some nourishment into her by Thursday and she was starting to perk up a bit.

Today her little 16 year old dog died in her arms while we were on the way to the emergency Vet. Back into the depression pit again.

Sorry if I've been a pain in the game guys. It's about the only stress relief I have had for a bit. It was working fairly well to get away from all the cancer stuff I been dealing with the last 15 months. It seems to have been less effective lately. Dunno wtf I'm going to do to get the next couple weeks behind me.

Yea, mav I know how that is, My mom died from cancer bout 2 years ago, and had been dealing with it for about 2 years prior, stuff like that can really play hell with a person and shorten their fuse.  Its one of those 1 day at a time things, I always had to just try and get through each day and not think about the  next or I would get overwhelmed.

Gents,

Thanks very much for the kind words. The recent events all dropping on us almost at once were real tough to deal with. Nancy is starting to come back out of the depression that is pretty common with cancer survivors. It's tough trying to be the upbeat and supportive partner all the time when there is no chance to just back away from it a bit and try to clear your head. Sometimes it feels like life sux, but it's still the best game in town. I am doing what I can to vent outside and away from Nancy so she will feel no negative emotions from me. She is the one who has displayed such courage through all of this that I feel pretty small in comparison. I can do no less than try to support her and keep her going towards a more positive outlook.

Thanks for all the prayers. nancy and I can use all we can get. I may bet tired and dejected but I will NOT quit.

Wow, Maverick, you must be at the breaking point.  I'm sorry for your wife's pain, and yours.  Just keep things simple, and enjoy the little things.  Man, I'm really sorry.

My Dad has been dealing with cancer of one form or another for almost a decade, and he's actually doing pretty good.  So, hang in there.

Well Mav I imagine that since she is recovering its only a matter of time before she hits the natural "high" that comes from pulling through something like that.

Lots or times people forget to think about the stuff the person closest to the ill is going through, they are not the one sick but in a way that just makes it worse, you can feel both guilty and helpless to do anything for someone whome you care so much, I remember when my mom was going through it all I wanted was to trade her places but all I could do is sit back and hope and that is very frusterating and caused me great non-directional rage that was very hard to deal with.

AMEN Wobble AMEN you hit it right on the head. All my adult life I have been working where I was supposed to be able to do something that would correct or at least mitigate a bad situation. Here I can do nothing to really make a difference. It is so damn frustrating to feel helpless to really fix it.
