EAW Re-Release? The hell?

Okay, so let me get this straight. You can currently go to Walmart, Best Buy or just about any place that sells computer games and buy EAW 1.1 (or 1.0?) in the discount bin for 10 or 15$... Then download picpax, all the terrain and new skins from Cord's EAW page AND get the 1.2 patch from Microprose.

Now Infogrames is repackaging it as the 1.2 version with the skin extracting utility included.

This game is 3 years old... graphics, flight and damage model to prove it. Planes that fly on rails and an extremely predictable stall/spin model.

*NOTHING* new on this CD... and they think people will buy it????

Okay, maybe if they redid the graphics so that when your ailerons or tail section got blown away it would show, then I would buy the re-packaged version... but it's nothing new what-so-ever.

RB3D was a re-release of Red Baron II and gave a new 3D engine and MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER for free! THAT sold a whole crap load because of the new stuff in it (Namely GLIDE 3D terrain engine, a few enhancements and MMP)... but this move by Infogrames is borderline dumb ass... they could of atleast made something new... better 3D models or damage representation.. ANYTHING!

Oh well, just my opinion. :-)

In most locations EAW long since sold out.  You see a lot of people asking where they can get it on the various EAW forums.  Here in Marin County it has not been available for more than a year.

Ah! I did not know that it was unavailable in other places. I still see it on the shelves of Best Buy, Walmart, K-Mart and Comp-USA here in Maryland, DC and VA...

BUT if there's still demand for it and no supply, then I guess this would be a smart move.

EAW still has the best offline gameplay, imho.

Now, if only someone would make an online sim with an updated EAW engine.
