Ruby Ridge Randy Weaver was set up by ATF and a warrant was issued for the sale of a shotgun with to short of a barrel

Almost.  Randy Weaver sold a shotgun to the ATF that was just over the limit.  When he refused to do what they wanted VIA the nazi camp, they procured the shotgun which was now just under the length limit.  Weaver could easily point out the hackjob on the stock of the gun.

"Randy was reluctant about the deal and only relented after Guss continued to badger him about how much he could earn, promising him that the guns would be sold to inner-city gang members „Ÿ the plan supposedly being that the black gang members would kill themselves off.  Following the Aryan Nation meeting, Randy agreed to meet Guss a few weeks later with two sawed-off shotguns in exchange for $300.00.

What Randy did not know was that Guss Magisono was actually an informant for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) named Kenneth Fadeley.  The ATF had previously arrested Fadeley for gunrunning and had offered him clemency in exchange for becoming an undercover informant for the Bureau."

Sweet form of "Entrapment".  The "badgering" highlights it.

sure..... make light of it but did you know that Weaver failed to pay the $5 tax on sawed off shotguns?

He brought the deaths on himself with such a heinous crime.
