Now you spoiled it for me :(

Have been working on mine for 10 years.  Now the challenge is gone.

This?       :D

(sorry I'm getting a dead link there)

My record 42 secs... average 56 secs. Grade 6. Total geek. Used to pull the blocks off and put em back on 100 times to loosen up the joints, then spray oil into it to get it to spin.

<edit>

Finally got the link to work. Watched the film and he did it in 29 steps. Highly skeptical about this though... if my memory is anything to go by. (heh not likely... but still). Lotsa ways to set up yer cube for a quick solving. Woulda been better to see someone else scrambling it and passing it on to him. I totally forget the patterns though so it's really hard for me to say one way or another. Did a quick net search and Minh Thai from the USA holds the world's record at 22.95 seconds. Did this guy just beat it?

I think it's real. My friend in Washington state could solve these things in about 3-5 minitues, he's got system down. As for time, it looks like the tape was speeded up in the middle. Look at how fast he turns it and his hands move. The real time was probably closer to a minute or 2. As for playing the mpg backwords, I dont think so, unless he is very good at making his hands look like they are moveing backwards when he recorded it.

According to my friend, from what I can remember, I doesnt matter where the colors are when you start, because the first thing you do is put them where you want em. You dont try to make solid sides, or even solid lines, you just know what colors need to be by what other colors, get it there then do a few moves to solve it. Pretty geeky if you ask me  ;).

Yea well I fiddled with one of those freaking things for about 10 mins tops and then figured out how to solve it. you take a screwdriver, pry one little cube out and it all comes apart. then assemble it as it should look. I never timed myself but i bet i could do it in around a min or slightly more.
