Game locks at launch
« on: May 08, 2006, 06:13:40 PM »
I have an AMD x2 Dual Core and an X200 ATI card. The vid card is integrated and so is my sound. The mouse is stuck in the upper righthand corner of the screen when I initally load the game and won't respond. The game is locked up. I've downloaded the latest drivers for both and the hotfix for the Dual Core processor. Also, COD2 is running terribly, like 3 fps. What's up?

Disable one of the cores.  Also note, the onboard video chip is very low end.  Not many games are going to run smoothly.  Most modern 3D games will be very choppy.

But I have run the game on this system before. I don't know of any changes that were made before AHII started going FUBAR

I've run AH2 on a system equipped with an onboard X200, it works quite well actually.  You just need enough memory.  Somebody else tried it too and reported success with it.

Sully, can you post your direct X diagnostic report?

What in-game video settings are you using?

I reinstalled the game so I would assume that the defalut are in place. However, next I will try a clean install (uninstalling first) and see if that will help.

If you want a clean installation, you will need to manually remove the "HTC/Aces High II" folder AFTER you run the "Add/Remove Programs" ICON.

Sully,

There are 2 reasons your machine is running like ****. First, goto power management within the control panel. Set power management to ANYTHING but minimal power management. I'll show you why.

This is with power management...notice the varience.

This is with anything but minimal power management. Smooth as ****.

The other problem is you NEED to run Aces High 2 in Windows 98 compatability mode. If you don't do those 2 things, your going to drive yrself crazy. I'm surprised you didn't look at the Sticky in the Hardware fourm because it deals with these exact problems you are having.

If you got more problems, PM me.
