Close Escorts’ Lancaster Night Mission

Sunday 3:00 pm EDT

Those of you who know what we've been missing with the loss of night can reclaim the emersion of a Bomber Command night mission this Sunday in the Special Events Arena and you guys who've never seen the cockpit or landing lighting in Aces High, come along for something new.  It is no longer necessary to turn your gamma up to see the instruments in the cockpit.:aok

In addition, this is a preview of the work the CE team is putting together for future runs of these weekly walk-on events in the Special Events Arena.

Frame 1: Operation Goodwood
For nearly a month, the Allies had been bogged down in Normandy. General Bradley devised a plan called Operation Cobra to break out from the war of the hedgerows and revealed it to high command.   As they proceeded, however, Montgomery and Dempsey planned an alternate breakout of British and Canadian forces two days before the Americans' planned Cobra, it was Operation Goodwood.

Preparatory fire support was provided by almost 1,000 heavy and medium bombers dumping over 15,000 pounds of bombs on the German positions east of Caen.  Many of the villages were reduced to rubble disrupting the German defenses and providing high shock value against the German troops. Our target due to the terrain restrictions will be A35, Abbeville Airfield.
