This is the week!
« on: February 12, 2001, 01:34:00 PM »
Here at work, the magical "Work Week 7" has finally arrived.  This is the week that Intel makes good on its promise to supply every employee with a new PC (WW7 for Oregon employees).

So, a new 1GHz P-3 is on its way to my place.  I'm getting the optional 128M RAM, 19" monitor and HP 950 printer for an additional $300.  Fortunately, it hits right at BFB time.

Ah.. its good to work for a big time money generating company

Cool!  Sounds like a neat employee incentive plan!

Non-union salaried employees at Boeing also get their incentive this week, 7.85 days of pay, which for me roughly translates into 1800 bucks!  I'm opting to invest in the future for now ...new PC upgrade some day!

Not too bad.  But I wasn't talking bonus.. just free computer.  We actually get 3 incentives a year.  One we call the "Employee Bonus" and the other two callled "Employee Cash Bonus".  The EB is given once a year and is calculated kinda funky.  For me it came out to $2400 last year.  It is always given out in February (Wednesday this year).  The ECB is calculated based on earnings.  It is given out in Feburary and September.  Each have been running around 12 days pay.  February usually works out to 5 pay checks.

One year, we the bonus paychecks meant we would get a check for 5 out of 6 weeks.  Suddenly, on the one week that we weren't getting a check, Intel decided to give each employee $1000 out of the blue.  I'm telling ya... its nice to work for mega moneymakers

Along with shooting down this tax cut, I push to eliminate any and all employee incentive programs (free computers included). As everyone may not get one from their employer, it is just not fair ....
