CH Rudder will not calibrate
« on: June 12, 2006, 03:26:32 PM »
Hello All, I have a major problem which has existed on and off since update 2:08 patch 1 and 2.  At the present time, I cannot fly at all because my CH Products USB gear will not stay in calibration.  I have CH Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle and Pro pedals.  I have them mapped as follows:  X-Axis = Analog Inputs Roll (Aileron) Y Axis = Analog Insputs Pitch (Elevator) Z Axis - Analog Inputs (Rudder) and Slider = Analog Inputs Throttle 1.  If  I do not assign the Rudder to the Z axis, then I stay in calibration, but the rudder does not work.  If I assign the rudder to the Z axis, then I lose all calibration right from take off.  I have tried everything - even using the default settings with the same result.  I did not have this problem prior to the new update and patches.  Is there anyone out there who can help??   Skuzzy are you listening, I am going into withdrawal.  :cry

Hello Wizer: This is my first post ever on a forum: I hope it works. I just got CH gear about a week ago. I just plugged them in and started my computer. I tried software that came with pedals, but that didn't work. So I deleted the CH software, restarted the computer, and let windows do its job with the software. These are the steps I took to get it all to work. Clipboard, Options, Controls, Map Controls. On this page u have drop down menu that is called Select Controller. Make sure all three pieces of gear are listed there. I pulled down the fighter stick from that menu and assigned x-axis to the ailerons and the y-axis to the elevator. I left the z-axis blank. Then I pulled down the pedals from the drop down menu and and assigned the z-axis to the rudder. I repeated as necessary to make all the keyboard commands go to the Ch gear. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply Clutz.  I'll give your suggestion a try since I've tried everything else without success.  I even sent an e-mail to Skuzzy and got a reply back to calibrate in windows, but USB gear cannot be calibrated in windows.  Thanks again.  If it works I will let you know.  If not I am going to assume that my pedals have expired from over use.   wizer

USB sticks can be calibrated in Windows XP.  In the "Game Controllers" or "Joysticks" ICON in the "Control Panel".  There is a "Calibrate" feature and it is a good idea to calibrate any stick in that panel first.

You have to dissable the CH control manager by removing the CMStart.exe from your start-up menu then reboot in order to be able to calibrate in Windows. That is IF you are using the CH control manager.

After calibrating in Windows, replace the CMStart.exe, reboot then launch the Control Manager and reload your stick/throttle/peds map, then launch AH and calibrate.

If you're not using the CH Control Manager then do what Skuzzy said.

Thanks for that clarification and confirmation.  I had suspected that I would have to do that after getting Skuzzy's response.

The thing with the USB CH gear is that, unless you use the Control Manager software to combine your different components into one "device" for Aces High, You have to map them all separately, as mentioned by Clutz.  The stick and the rudder pedals have their own individual drop down menus that have to have axes selected.  If you use the Z axis on the stick, it obviously doesnt work.  Now if you use Control Manager to combine your components so Aces High only sees one device, then you can map them all as if they were all part of one joystick.
