Changes on BB
« on: June 29, 2006, 12:45:15 AM »
2 small requests:

1. Privilage of posting on AH BB should be limited only to current subscribers of AH2.

2. O'Club should be removed from this BB. As nest of non stop-political fights, intolerance, hate,  droping bait and bashing over others.

1) retarded idea.

I've been "flying" Ah since it came out of beta. I didn't have a subscription the entire time. Or heck, even most of it. However I have had a forum account since it came out of beta, despite a few forum resets along the way. Not to mention potential customers will come in here and want to sign up to figure things out.

2) GREAT idea. I 100% avoid the O Club because it's nothing but a breeding ground for idiocy (this includes baiting/trolling), arguments, and bickering. If you can't say it in the general forum, don't say it (my opinion)

The O'Club was removed before. Then half the boards were filled with "Bring back the O'Club."

You can't say everything on the General Discussion because your topic has (is supposed to be) to be Aces High based. The O'Club allows all the players to post whatever they want.

Guess the part I don't understand is why you can't just not go to the O'Club; why ruin someone else's fun if it really isn't affecting your own?

If you don't like the O'Club... don't go. Surely this is a better solution no?

As for limiting board access, my wife fully supports the idea.

Having levels of access might not be a bad way to go, but it may just be too much of a pain in the bellybutton to keep up-to-date.

Better yet if you know the topic is a sore spot with you don't reply.
By not replying you don't get the runaway flame war.  Then the thread dies a quick death and we all move on.
You also have ignore list just add to it.
Yanking the OC away is not the answer, because they oc trolls will just post everywhere else. Making a ton  more unnecessary work for HTC.

Yup keep all the rotten eggs in one basket, easier to keep an eye on em.

This I can agree with. We all know who, if removed from the OC the flame fest would die down fast. Hell ya have a guy who's avatar is basically telling ya he's fishing for it.  Most of these guys were old time AHers I guess HTC is more sentimental than I thought.
OHHH well .

you can try to ban the meatheads all you want.. all they will have to do is make a new ID and then they are back at it.. I remember when the O club was removed... it was a nightmare... every thread in every section was about the O club in one shape or fashion..  we do need more mods running around here... heck, make me one of the BBS police.  :aok

thats why 3 times warrning rule should apply same time. Noone will like to risk loosing privilages.
There is like hundred threads hijack by small amount of active bb keyboardist who hang oover there just to make flame war. All the time same people cose deleted of closed topics.
Imho time to deal with that.
Im on couple boards where rules are like in  prison, everyone stay on topic and all people behave nice.

It wont work.  Some posters get away with alot more than most of the people who post on the BBS.  It depends upon who you are if you get a thread locked or not, or if you get a warning.  HTC favors a few of the so-called "elite", while others get a tread locked at the drop of a hat.

The 3 'warnings" rule can only work if the "favoritism" stops, and I dont see that happening.
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
