About 11 months after Katrina
« on: July 21, 2006, 09:57:17 PM »
My house is about 60% repaired. The kitchen is still studs, but its not much of an inconvenience as I've relocated the major appliances (e.g. stove in the living room, sink and refrigerator in the foyer). Its hot as heck right now, way too hot to continue what I need to do. Before I can start the kitchen, I need to get up in the attic to do some work, and its just too hot. Yea I could do the 15 minutes in 15 minutes out, but I'm burned out. It seems I've been working for 14-16 hours a day for nine months. I'm quitting till October. So I'm going to cook outside some, swim in the pool and shoot down a few planes till October. Cya up under some name that has to with tropical weather :D

Blue cyclone? nah thats a train aint it?

cya up

Was down there in May, six Flags still closed, not really a priority though i'd guess.  The damage was amazing, tarps still on a lot of the buildings, a lot of trash still in the streets, the wrecked cars under I-10 (I think that's where they were).  Take it easy, hopefully your house comes together quick like.

Take a break and get some rest. I agree the heat there is kinda brutal so take it easy. Things will get done. Good luck to you.

Glad to hear you're recovering BTW.  It's hard to imagine how tough it must be to start over again like that.

Sorry for the rant, but...

Remember to submit a fake ssn to get some more FEMA coin to spend on potatos and crack.

CNN reported that something like 3 billion dollars may have been wasted or spent on fradulent claims...  I sure as hell won't donate any more money to any charities in that area.  Sucks for the honest people, but damned if I'm going to throw more money at the bastards that stole 3 billion dollars.  I feel like a complete sucker for donating to the red cross Katrina fund...  I gave a lot of money and if I wanted it spent on porn, I could have gotten a 100 year subscription to penthouse for myself instead.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

eagle.... are you saying that a government agency like fema can be inneficient and corrupt and lazy and...... worthless?

I heard that the waste by private and religious organizations was no more than normal tho.....4-10%.

BTW... good luck on the work.  My dad never could stand to just buy a house and live in it... growing up you could come home and your outside bedroom wall was gone.    Go to take a bath and there would only be a hole where a bathtub used to be.

I pretty much am not like that but on occasion... I will tear out a wall or floor or whatever.   It is strange living but... Kinda neat when it starts to gell.
