film problems
« on: July 07, 2006, 11:16:23 AM »
When i film a sortie and go to the film viewer to watch it it works fine, but when i'm getting killed( happens a lot ) and i jump into the plane of the oppponant who is doing the killing my plane disappears in his heads-up display. This makes it very difficult to critique my flying and figure out what i did wrong so i can make adjustments and prevent it from happening again. Also, when i jump into an opponants plane and use recorded views, when they look behind all that can be seen is the seat making it difficult to observe how they view the situation and react accordingly. With respect to the disappearing plane aspect, someone told me if I or the other person uses a gunsight other than the default this will cause the viewer not to recognize it and therefore the plane will disappear. I like my gunsight and don't want to have to use the default, but i also want to be able to see my plane in their HUD to figure out what i am doing wrong. does anyone know what's up with this and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.(Sorry for the long winded post)

Well, since you leave the area when shot down, the film doesnt have any data on what the opponents do afterwards. Also note that most times the mistake is made long before the killing occurs. As for you "dissappearing" when entering his gunsights is strange... im not using default sights either, but dont have that problem... hmmm........... can you take a screenie? does it happen in *all* planes? Maybe you can even post a film here?

The recorded views are ALWAYS your own views, no matter which plane you jump into. In other words, when jumping into enemy plane using recorded view, you dont see where *he* looked at that time, but where you did. Only way to obtain *his* views is watch the film *he* recorded. A workaround would be to uncheck recorded views and use the numpad to keep yourself in views. Its a pretty safe guess that he kept his eyes on you at all times.

As for default view blocking.... either watch film in external, or - internal - adjust head positions same way as ingame (arrow, page up/down to move, F10 to save).

If you have trouble analyzing your films, post them here.... youll get lots of opinions hint and tips :).

Yes, I have the same problems. You can adjust head views in film viewer same as u would  during regular game play by pressing the head view u want and then press f10. If u click the Num Lock u can get ride of that annoying bonk noise. My plane disappears when in their gun sites too. Is their away around around this anybody? Maybe if we load the gun site they are using? Also, when I am in their plane, I'm just a little speck with no icon so I have a tough time finding my plane during the dogfight. Is there a way to maybe add an icon to my plane or something so I can see myself? TY very much :)

The ahfilm.exe is in your game folder (something like C:\HTC\Aces High II\). Or you go through the Windows Start Menu. After the first time, the afh file extension automatically gets associated with the Viewer and you can simply open them with a double click.

You cant launch the Viewer while Aces High is running and vice versa.
