to Grubzilla And Geaux for their help in the TA

Would appreciate any help in learning ,  have some background in flight sims,,,,mostly box versions, that said AH is totally different animal.

First piece of advise ...

Don't start learning in the P-38. It is a very capable plane, but not one to learn in. Get in a Spit 9 and get real good in it before moving to a plane such as the P-38.

Second piece of advise ...

Don't concentrate on the HO ... concentrate of setting yourself offline (of the HO) and try to execute "lead turn". Keep going for the HO and you will constantly get spanked when you don't kill your opponent with the HO.

I came to this game with 4+ years experience flying the P-38 in 2 older online sims.  Even with that, I split the majority of my flight time the first few months in other planes.  Mainly in the spit9 and the N1K2 (many planes have been added to the game since that time).

Id agree with slapshot that it would be a good idea to spend a lot of seat time in other fighters also.  Many times in the nimble single engine fighters you are simply flying around full throttle and maneuvering.  With the P-38 there is a good bit of flap, rudder, and throttle manipulation being used to make it effective in a dog fight.  All of which are little help if you're choice of maneuvers are poor.

By all means become familiar with flying the P-38, but get good in a smaller, more nimble fighter, and it will improve your sucess with the P-38.

Learning to avoid the HO is a much more usefull skill than learning to make a HO.  You'll see this by the rarity of HO's either recieved, or given in my films.

I also had great fun in the TA dueling you.  When I said you shouldn't totally concentrate on flying the easier planes (LA-7's and Spit 16's) (let the flames begin) it was because you shouldn't learn to rely on their incredible speed or E retaining ability.  What you should do is follow Murdr's advice and get in a spit 9 or N1k for a bit.  I have been flying this game for 5 years or so and I am nowhere near as good in the 38 as Murdr, AKAK, Delirum and VonHoltz (yes I am a slow learner).  Most of all film and learn where your particular plane performs best.  The trick is getting the other guy to cooperate :)...

Also, pertaining to films.....

Start filming your own fights! (ALT_R in game to toggle record on/off - red R in upper left corner of screen when recording). The films are saved in your game folder HTC\Aces High II\films.
