Hey Saintaw,

I see in your sig line that you are from Swindon.  My flatmate has just learned that there is a possibility that he might get an overseas job there with his company.

So my question is.....should he jump off a bridge now, or give the new job a chance?  I'm just kidding of course.  How big/small is Swindon?  The closest I have been is to Bath or Warminister and he keeps asking me my opinion and I have no idea what to tell him about Swindon.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Is he going to work with Intel/Cisco or honda ? ---> these are the 3 major companies in Swindon  

Tell him to come if he plans a steady career, is already married & is not used to cities like London...

250.000 poeple here, it's pretty much like Bath exept the architecture & the American tourists  

It's 1 hour Drive from Oxford or Bath, so commuting is ok or even escaping during week ends is feasible

He works for Lucent.  Apparently they have an R&D lab there.  It looks like it will be a 2 year assignment.  This works really well for me because I have not been to the UK in over 2 years and I need to work on getting my passport filled up for the free toaster.

Rofl ! I live with a guy that works at Lucent (Meaning I am renting a room in a house during the week...).

That's in West Swindon, tell him to find a flat in Central or Old Town...West Swindon is..........unsafe.
