Hi guys
This is a program that reaches out to some 200,000 homeless vets that are still out there.
I thought it was just on in my area as I was up at the vets office yesterday, delivering sleeping bags, roll mats, toothbrushes, rucksacks etc.
Turns out that it's going on throughout the country and there's probably one going on near you.
What happens is that for a few days they are looked after, given medical and legal assistance, made aware of programs that are out there to help and given some basic nessisaties such as the stuff I mentioned above,
If you look at the website for the National coalition for homeless veterans then they should have a directory of what's going on in your area.
As a 60% disabled vet myself, I found the experience very humbling and yet made me feel better, maybe it will do the same for you? I could have ended up as one of these guys, but I was lucky, I still had some small presence of mind to try and make it through each day.
I'm asking all of you to put politics aside, think of who these guys are and what they done and please help in some way, heck, even if it's dropping one new toothbrush then somebody will use that right?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, If I broke any rules of the bbs by posting this then I', sorry, but this is important.
