Loosing stick mapping
« on: December 19, 2006, 01:09:13 AM »
5 years with no problems and now I've started to loose my stick mapping on power up. Once I set it up, I can play all day but as soon as I turn my computer off....the next time I boot up my stick map is gone again.

Here's the interesting part...Yes I keep a back up of "settings" and it doesn't bring back my stick...I have to start all over and re-callibrate and then remap all my buttons.

What keeps trashing my set up? Using TM Cougar which has been fine for years.

Sounds like the write permissions to the settings folder have been lost.  Are you running an anti-virus program perhaps?  Possibly some other anti something software?

Check the permissions of all the Aces High II files and folders.  The .jsm files in the "settings" folder is where the joystick mappings are kept.

Thanks, Skuzzy. I think you're on to something. Every folder shows "Read Only" The problem is when I uncheck the green box it pops right back as soon as I exit and reopen the folder. This is with Norton and Zone Alarm turned off.

I'm missing something here.....

Thanks for the help.
