That does seem low.  I run just under 30 with a P-333/Voodoo II combo in 1024.  I'm not real familiar with the TNT, so I can't comment.  I do know that the TNT2 does very well.

Does seem low ... I have a PII-450 with 256 MB RAM, with the TNT I was seeing around 30 fps for 1024x768, 16 bit.

As I'm sure you know, you are limited by your TNT video card, not the CPU.  I upgraded my TNT and got better frame rates with my PII-450 (and then went to 1280x1024, 32 bit since I'm on a 21" monitor and wanted the higher resolution).

Robert, has your framerate recently dropped or is that what you've been getting all along?

Pyro...

My frame rate dropped drastically with latest version for some reason.  I now get about 30fps average with a 600Mhz P3 (256 Megs manin memory) running a CL GeForce 256 (32 megs) card, using 1024x768 (16 bit).  The thing that I find most annoying is the sudden screen freezes as the code does something, then all of a sudden it snaps back to motion.  Running 7200rpm defragged drives so that can't be the problem.

I get tremendous frame rates in all other 3D games and well over 90fps in WB, although not a fair comparison.  I don't get any of these weird freezes as I get in AH.

Regards,
Badger

Badger,

Go check out this article I wrote: http://users.andara.com/~sconrad/system.htm

Pay particular attention to the msconfig utility and cleaning up what you run at boot time.

I hope this helps.

BTW, have you tried 32 bit color?

the fps use to be in the 30 to 35 range.
but last patch got me good i think.
no new software and no new config stuff.
i noticed that the game freezes or stutters
just as the plane come in range from the
1k to the 999 and down range.
only thing i can think of is i defraged the other night before patch. but that is supposed to help

Gee, I guess I should count my blessings. I'm running a celery 300A OCed to 450 and 128 ram. I'm also running 2 MVDIIs (8 meg) SLI. My connection is always set to 19,200. I get in the 50/60 fps range flying around and 90/140 fps looking straight up. We really need some kind of benchmark for AH. Oh ya, running in 1024 rez.

FYI Robert,

I had a very similar experience as you describe (about icons and screen stutter).

I had recently installed nvidia reference drivers for my asus v3400 tnt.  Although this gave me better performance before the latest release, when the newest release was installed,  screen stutter became an issue and several other issues popped up as well.

I simply re-installed the asus drivers and the game runs great (again).

i tried the other 3.53 drivers.
but i couldn't get the picture
on the monitor to cover the hole screen.
plus i had a perforemace hit from it also
so i just went back to the older drivers.
i use to never get the screen shutter in
the other patches.
just seems like here lately.
