Kill credit oddity
« on: March 15, 2000, 03:56:00 PM »
I just got done flying a sortie that ended a bit oddly.  I was in an L5 and being new, I didn't realize how little fuel it carried so I ran out.  I was gliding to towards a freindly base, and had it in sight when an enemy spit moved to engage.  Not seeing any way to win, I bailed before he even took a shot.  He was however awarded a kill for me. and I received a message that he had shot me down.  This just seemed odd.  I floated to the ground safely and on exit was told that I had landed safely.

Wmutt, what you did is called a dweebish action  ...

Every time you bail and some one pinged you a bit, or is in the neighbourhood, he gets a kill message.

Same goes for Alt-F4 (disconnecting game, modem, etc).

Next time try to ditch before he gets ya... then he won't get a kill message.

I wouldn't call it any more dweebish than attacking a crippled plane

After giving it some thought, I see where the kill (loss of an aircraft) should be awarded to the pilot, He after all, did make me bail. But it struck me odd because I had not been pinged at all.

Dweebish... You know, I'm not saying I'm not a dweeb, but in this particular case, I don't think I was very dweebish.
