Two-stage trigger for CH FighterStick
« on: January 29, 2007, 01:10:37 PM »
If you have a CH Combat or Fighter Stick and use the main trigger for your primary guns and the side-button (side-trigger) for your secondary weapons then you have probably (like me) gotten used to keeping your middle finger on the main trigger and your pointing finger on the side-trigger.

Here is a mod that frees up your middle finger as it provides both functions on the main trigger.  There is a lot of detail here but the mod itself is fairly simple to do.  It does involve a bit of soldering and fabrication.  Hope you find it useful.

Here is the link to the mod: Two-stage trigger mod

Pretty creative work, there!

I'm used to pressing trigger1/trigger2 at the same time. been doing it for ages, to the point where I can fire both and release both and have the same ammo left over in both banks (when flying planes with the same ammo count in both banks).

What if you want to just hit secondary? Like bombs or rockets, or DTs, etc?

You simply press the side-trigger like you've been doing for  ____ (10 years in my case).  Nothing has to change at all there.

Ahhhhh... I think I misread it the first time. I thought you were pulling out the pinky button and replacing it up higher in the trigger for the secondary. I didn't realize you were supplementing it!

You weren't misreading it Krusty;  at least not completely.  I was describing moving the pinky button but then in the second post realized that there was a way to have them both.

By "side-trigger" though I was referring to the button on the right side of the stick (mode button) rather than the pinky.  That is my secondary weapon button.  It sounds like you use the pinky button for secondary fire.   The pinky button would make a good secondary weapon button.  It's all what you get used to I guess.

My favorite feature of this trigger design is the 1/8" or so movement you get in stage one before it fires stage two.  It has a very "real gun" like feel to it.  One of the things I've never liked about joysticks is how the trigger never actually moves and all you get is a little click.
