Such things happen when overall numbers go down at later hours and the arena caps resize. Sadly, I just hat to relog, and now I do see that I will not be able to rejoin the battle I was commited to. Not exactly a bug, but quite annoying neverthenless.

The thing about the caps is that they're TRYING to equalize both LW arenas to about the same numbers. Below a certain point (150?) they don't do this. But the reason it dropped the cap on the 290-player arena to 200 is because it WANTS folks to go to the 161-player arena.

It's designed to evenly distribute player between both.

This happens everytime there is a reset and the arenas are pretty populated.  Happened tonight when Orange got re-set and Blue was already full.  The Blue limit immediately dropped from 420 to like 250 even though there were still about 420 logged in to Blue.

if they are going @ 150 each, well they are S.O.L. as there are 161 in 1 arena, and 290 another, that = 451, TOTALLY un-equalized, and I suspect in the maxed arena one county was supremely outnumbered (though I have no way of checking as I couldn't look in there)

this pic was take after over 20 minutes of attempting to log in, so it was not an "arena reset anomaly" that happens for a short time FYI BaldEagl.

it is possible that the LWOrange was reset some time tonight, but after the "boot" it should have "equaled" after a time, like I said I came home and this is what I got for 20+ minutes.

I personally don't care what chess piece I fly for, as they are all the same, but the situation at hand is the numbers get "whacked" like this many times, and I have numerous shots, if you want them I can post, but it is not an "occasional" thing.

I am in totally line with the multiple arenas, and understand the reason why it is necessary, I will never try and dispute that, I just have to question the factors that institute the CAP numbers at certain times, in face many times.

now yes if 1 arena was static capped at say 450, and people logging insaw the numbers they would naturally migrate to the "big fight", and I understand the need to spread out the numbers, but a situation like I posted is beyond the understood cap's for arena's balance.

FK I deleted the other screen shots, as I am stupid, and usually don't bother posting stuff, even though I think for a second I "should"

I will start archiving the arena numbers and posting if needed, but this is generally the "norm" I have seen.

for HTC people, I am NOT saying I want to fly with the horde, or anything close to that, I think you know what the squad I am in, and some other squads are about. for some of the "smaller" squads (10 players + or - 5 people) the game is about comradery and flying for fun. it seems that "groups" like this are being effected by this WAY more than the "3 wing" squad of 32 X 3 players, as groups like that can always find multiplepeople online in whatever arena is not "capped"

I know there are MANY things in-work for the HTC staff, and respect that fully, this is probably not the biggest priority in the grand scheme.

even though,  would eally like to hear Dale's or Pyro's or Sud's or someone's opinion on what is possible, and what is the basic deal on a situation like show above (photo, and my general thoughts on it)

I KNOW I don't have the "perfect" answer, but I still do believe that something can possibly be tweaked to make the situation somewhat more conducive to squad / friendship flying.

this game really does, and I hope most have realised now, rely on "friendship" and the in-game relations many here have earned over the many many years we have flown here.

whe you attempt to limit the interaction of those "friends" even though it may be what is "best for gameplay" in the long run, you tend to alienate those more long term players, the less the playerbase has to rely on for training, and other purposes.

I may have posted something callous in another thread about "newbies" and don't mean that I am in any way a "callous{  vet. I like to think I have spent my share of taking time in my life (and 1000's of cell phone minutes) to teach a "n00bie" what is sort of going on.

ok that5 is all for now fr now, and see oyou back in thos thread soon to come.

Not to hijack your thread but to add to it when I first logged on last night I went to the lobby to see if any squaddies were up (we only have 7 members so if one or two are up that's about it most times).  One was up in Orange which was filled at 420 of 420.  I kept quitting and re-logging until I was finally able to get into Orange.

Later I got disco'd, had trouble getting back, finally did then got disco'd again while in the tower.  By that point I had determined my squaddie had logged or gotten disco'd himself (probably logged as we were on his last flight at the time I got disco'd the first time).

1.  It is hard to get to your squaddies sometimes under the arena caps.
2.  If you get disco'd you may never get back.

After the second disco I shut down, rebooted my modem, rebooted my computer and re-logged thinking that since I was alone no harm in trying the other, less populated arena.

While the Orange arena numbers were reasonably balanced, the Blue was being hoarded by Bish (of which I am one) and the map was re-set within ~10 minutes of my logging in (free perks but not much fun).

3.  The current system last night forced me to fly in the arena in which we had vast numerical superiority.

As mentioned above, after the re-set both arenas capped at ~250 even though there were still almost 400 in Blue.

4.  The current system last night forced the hoarding country that had just won the re-set to all re-log into one arena and begin the hoarding again.

Just a few additional observations of the current system.
