Is there an easy way to de-install the hi-res text pack?  

I have a 3500+, 7900GT, 1GB of RAM.   Figured I'd test it out, I don't like it.

I know some have it with same amount of RAM, and slower CPU and V.C.

You don't need to. Simply go back into the video settings and set it to 512 or less.

Note that without the hi-res installed, the max size of all skins included with the base install was 512x512. Even if you set it to 1024 it was showing at 512. So if you installed hi-res and don't like it, just set it lower. The only thing lost is a bit of HD space.

Some people have different definitions of playable (or works good ) in this game , i know some of the systems people run 1024 texts on must be just crawling but to them its fine as long as they get 30 fps or more .

I myself need the game perfectly smooth otherwise it isnt enjoyable , so thats why i don't use the hi-res pack . My system still  will have a hitch in it every once in awhile @1024 .

Um thats weird your system if higher than mine and surprised not running smooth for you.  Ive got AMD 64 3200+, PNY 7600GS AGP 512MB, 512MB RAM, and running high res in the background and pulling 90+ FR pretty easy unless get into a giant furball than it drop a little.

Exactly Hooch.   I'm using an LG 1932Q 19" LCD w/ a DVI running at 1280x1024 res.   I'm pegged at 60 fps.   I only wavers when my tunes are cycling in the background.

Before that, I had a Dell 17" CRT running at 1024x768 at 100 fps pegged.  

I reverted to 512 textures and like 38ruk, prefer the game running smooth.

Ahh I have my music playing via an auxiliary wire plugged from my soundcard to my mp3 player so I dont get a hit on FR due to music playing in the background.
