I'm studying engineering, not physics.
Engineering is applied physics.
(There are no rocket scientists... they are applying physics to to solve real world problems. They are rocket engineers)
However....
Time is a real world dimension, or meters/second would be a dimension divided by a dimensionless number and then the units for speed would be just meters.
meters/second*second would be identical to just meters...
If time were not a dimension, distance, speed, and acceleration would be indistinguishable.
