something I want to pass on to the SEA community
« on: May 15, 2007, 11:39:49 PM »
I was over in the Terrain BB, looking through some of the post.

A lot of us have been flying in special events for many years. Like many of us, I have been guilty of taking our CM Terrain team for granted. In looking through some of their post, I am always amazed at just how much time that team puts into making the maps for us to play on.

I will bet that many of you have thought that the maps we use are built by HTC, People that come to work everyday and get paid to do it. In fact it is quite the opposite. The maps we use in the SEA are all hand built by a group of volunteers, on there own time. Don't get me wrong, they do get help from HTC, but there are probably dozens of hours spent on each map we use, by this team.

AH Special events would not be possible without their work, and they seldom get credit for their efforts.

This is the current list of Terrain Team volunteers.

Dux (Team Lead)
Blauk
Gatso
-raxx-
Kanttori
Raptor01
68Falcon

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Give these guys a "Thank You" next time you see them.

You can easily identify them as they are the ones with big collars tied to a leash in Dux's firm grip.  They are also pastey white since they haven't seen the light of day in years.  :D

guys.  You are the best!  :aok

I just wonder if all the work put into recent maps like Japan, Karelia, and so-on, has been ruined due to HTCs recent updates with the terrain and objects. Would be a shame, if so.

Not ruined, they were affected though.  There had to be some fixes though, and still need some more repairs.

The positive spin however is that there is now far more that can be done than before.  The major custom objects that showed up in Stalins Fourth and Operation Downfall really pushed the envelope, now the new bridges, windmills and trees showing up in the new MAs are just a taste of the new potential.

Great things on the horizon, Kudos to the Terrain Team for their skill in breaking the mold and patience as their molds got broken lol

HT has done some great things for the game, the Terrain Team has really taken it to heart and have some pretty kewl stuff under construction ;)

A fine to the fine people of the Terrain Team.

Well Done!

Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.
