No written rules are going to change it.

In the end, it's the behavior of the people in the arena that set the tone.  I've been in a few times lately and it's been good fun, with good fights and folks being respectful about it.

As long as the regulars don't get into "MA flyer bashing" or using the excuse that the "MA Tard HO'd me so I'm gonna do it back" excuse, the new folks will get the idea.

Play it the way you want other folks to see you play it.  No one else can make you HO, gang or ack run.  It's in your hands how you handle it.

I found it to be a great pleasure and real nice change from the MA's. I really home we can have 1 arena where sportsmanship and gentlemen like behavior sets the "rules".  Tues night was like that, and it was great.

Tried again wed and found a different set of folks there. On wed the "rules were a lot looser, and  a few guys announced their frustration re. HO's and gangbangs and left.

I really hope tues was the norm and wed the exception, will try again tonite and see.

I also must admit it took me a few minutes to "learn" the "rules", and recieved a scolding at one point. But I believe in the notion that when in Rome do as the Romans. Once I altered my mindset to the different "rules" offered in the AVA I was richly rewarded with some of the best 1on 1s ive ever had.

Looking forward to many more.

Also, to some of you more rigid types, what would it hurt to play alittle different in the AVA. If you dont want to fly the way the "Rules" state, there are the EW,MW, 2 LW's to fly by other "rules".

Lets all enjoy a refreshing change. An arena where sportsmanship and respect "rule".

Leave your ego in the other areans and come have fun for the sake of it.

Always glad to see happy responses.A large group of us use Vox channel 231(it's fun talking to the guy your shooting at) and we generally have a really good time.Hope to see you in there again.

The 'unwritten' rules of AvA have caused more whines, arguments, and chaos in the arena, more so then MA even though we have smaller numbers. Depending on who's in arena for that day, these rules are interpreted differently among those in the community. A 'new comer' to the arena finds one day it's ok the next day it's not and of course if player has the misfortune of meeting a regular or worse a 'new comer' who is vocal that thinks they know what the unwritten rules are we end up with a unpleasant situation in the arena which eventually spills out on the BBS. This chaos has given the AvA a bad reputation.  All we ask for those participating in the AvA is to be respectful to other players in the arena, especially if you think someone has broken the 'unwritten' rules.

My personal rules

#1 it's not about the land grab it's about air to air combat
#2 no vulching
#3 no HO'ing
#4 no gangbanging... if it's 2 V 1 they've got it handled
#5 unless a friendly is in trouble stay out of the fight if it's a 1 v 1
#6 the guy who killed you unless it's in direct violation of the previously stated
#7 laugh at yourself when you die.. encourage others to laugh with, and this is important, WITH you not AT you.
#8 be respectful of everyone in the arena even if they are a HO'ing, gangbanging, vulchtard.
#9 take trash talking to pm's unless you're trying to be funny and it's obvious

But those are my rules for me.  I wouldn't dream of attempting to force my thought of right and wrong on someone else other than using a healthy stream of bullets into their cartoon airplane :D

the whining in AvA on Wed night was unbearable.  Tonight (Fri) was pretty bad too.

I'm gonna just de-tune 200 from now on an use PM to salute folks after a good fight.

Toonces3, if you can, try and get out on Tuesday or Thursday night usually a pretty decent crowd on those nights.

what? and It wasn't storches fault?  say it ain't so!!!!  when ever you get competetive people in a competition elbows will fly, hits will be exchange and taunts will be traded.  the skirt wearing ava staff is simply a collection of hens busily clucking away at the typical outcome of a cockfight.  go and click the link on the Redd thread in the O' club, you may find some useful information there.

Actually, it's Soda who wears pumps and a mini, but on Thursday nights he puts on his 4" 'ho' heels. But it's rumoured that some staffers wears a thong for the AvA Tuesday night fights.

I only wear black knee-high skirts with flats, but after a few beers, I'd doubt you'd know the difference.   :D
