Worldwide Woosdom?
« on: August 06, 2007, 09:14:35 AM »
After being on the boards here, and in other locations, talking to people in general, it has came to my attention that there seems to be a big and growing trend in the woosdom area.
People are gnashing their teeth and hiding under rocks........on just about everything, most of which are pure media myths to begin with.
"The sky is falling"........."Global warming...........uhhhhh....C limate change"........"I can`t drive my car or bike without body armor anymore"......"The Gub`ment told me so. It has to be true".........."Ban guns"........"Ban fun"...."Ban bans".........."Save the whales"...."Save the earth"............................. ..."Save bikinis" <--------( I`m up for this one) :)
So.............what are your biggest fears, real and imagined or media/government/BS induced?

Had to come back for an addition..................... ........
Do you really need someone or something to make your decisions for you, such as the government on just about everything. Do you not trust yourself.......with yourself and decisions?
Are you a big Woos? :)

Don't have any real fears, all big global disaster, terrorism stuff is rather exciting in many ways.

I read somewhere recently that as our society becomes safer and more comfortable we begin to fear bigger and more unlikely scenarios as above. whereas in reality, we are in more danger every time we get in a car and drive onto the road.

Global Warming / Climate Change - Aware of not worried about.  In favor of making changes in how we go about getting power to something more eco friendly but, until it's cheaper than what we have not, not a lot of people are going to pony up the bucks to go there.

Terrorism - okay gotta admit this one scares me quite a bit.  I see how easy it would be to cause devastation and terror due to our lack of border security and it does cause me some anxiety.  That said I'm not quite ready to hide in a shack in the boonies to avoid it.

My biggest true fear is that I'm not a good enough husband to my wife and father to my kids.  I do my best daily but only time will tell how well I do the job.

You know those church crying rooms that they have at the back of the auditoriums?  The ones with the glass, and the speaker inside the room so you can still hear the sermon without anyone in the auditorium hearing your kid? I always hated singing in those. I always feared a glitch in the speaker system to where the crying room noise (my singing) was broadcast out into the auditorium instead of the other way around.  Thankfully my sons are all now far past the age of the crying room.

Now, biggest fear is one/any of my sons being injured without me being able to do anything to prevent it.

yep... as you get older.. you can't help but notice that every year...

some new law is passed by the estrogen crowd "for your own good" to protect us from some danger real or imagined... I don't want to be protected...

I want to decide for myself...

terrorists?  riots?  bring em on... we never get any good riots around here.

Freedom can be ugly and people get hurt. Some cant handle that and have to have mommy make them safe, and they also can't stand to see others live their lives at their own risks and want Mommy to fix that too.

they are all a bunch of little tiny *******.

My biggest fear...would have to be Denial.

I'm talking about the kind that lead people to convince themselves' that they are right when they are clearly wrong.

We start lying to others, by lying to ourselves first. Then, with other people, it becomes second nature.

Yes, it would have to be denial.

Global warming? banning guns? save the whales?

Helll, im from Texas, im not sure it can get any hotter. Ban my guns? ban away, you still gotta find em and take em from me. Screw the whales.

What im afraid of is gettin laid off, or hurt, or any other thing that might put my wife, family, friends in danger of being hurt or disadvantaged.

The Gubmint? maybe the  rich, and maybe the poor get by with help from the gubmint. Im middle class, i get by in SPITE of the gubmint.
