« on: September 09, 2007, 05:52:26 PM »
I know there is quit a few guys on the site in aviation, so I figured i'd throw this out and see if anyone could help.

I'm looking for a panel mount, IFR certified Garmin 400 or 430, used and in good condition.  If anyone knows of one for a good price please let me know

Ditto.  Either that, or a dirt cheap NAV/COM w/ a G/S indicator.  Cav, if you're upgrading from one and find a 430, maybe it'd be worth chatting about the equipment you're replacing if you don't have a buyer.

You are looking for an IFR certified system? I would suggest you pick up a copy of trade a plane and see if there are any avionics shops in your area. Look at the adds from Eastern Avionics and their western counterparts. I would NOT be thinking ebay or some place like that.

Check for the local shops and see if they have done any upgrades. Keep in mind that merely bolting in an IFR certified system does not qualify your bird for IFR operation. The installation has to be IFR certified and checked regularly for compliance and calibration. That goes for far more than just the Garmin too.

Busting clouds and fog on approach is not the time to be thinking cheapest possible equipment and is it really accurate.
