Having read many threads about the bad things concerning buffs and how we could alter it etc...You know ...dive bombing lancs blah blah blah I suddenly thought...wait a minute...why do you get drones???? I mean its only buffs that this happens with . I am sure the question has been asked I just have never seen it. If you cant drop a target with the bombload of a lanc you shoulkd give up. I love flying buffs but to be honest it wouldnt bother me at all if I could just use the one. It might stop alot of the things people moan about if it was adopted.

drones are upped due to the fact that this is how bombers flew in WWII. they flew in a formation of 3 like you see on the game.


you also have the option of upping only one drone. If you goto hanger you will see on clip board Formation you can un check it or check it your choice.

A buff, by itself, is pretty much dead meat against most single fighters.

The formation improves the chances that at least one of the planes surviving.  Even then, the PATIENT pursuer will dispose of a formation of buffs.  

Even as a single plane, a dive-bombing Lanc is still capable of destroying any single target in the game sans HQ.  So doing away with drones won't stop that anyway.

And there is a lot to be said for the nice massive formations the drones provide when you get 7 or 8 buff drivers together.  Add in a few escorts and go trapsing across the landscape.  It's an ambiance kinda thing.

We have drones because the Deathstar doesn't meet the criteria for making it into the game.
