Just burnt through my Netflix shipment in a single afternoon (with the help of a little Jack Daniels :) ).  Better drop them back in the mail tomorrow.

Manchurian Candidate
On the Beach

Man.  They just don't make movies like that anymore.  And probably never will again.  Sad really.

Seven days in May: I only saw a Soviet TV series made in mid-80s, plot was perfect (based on a novel), I wish I could see original film with mmm Burt Lancaster? The guy who was a narrator in Unknown War?

Manchurian Candidate: paranoid McCarthist film. Sinatra never was a good actor IMHO. Anyway this movie shows real advantages of "democracy" :D

Yeah it was Burt.  He was perfect for the role.  He didn't play it like a nut job.  He was almost....admirable.  I mean, if you were in his position, and you really BELIEVED what was happening would almost certainly lead to the death of 150 million citizens, are his actions so unbelievable?  He may have been incorrect, but was he really wrong?  If you can get your hands on the original, watch it.

On Manchurian Candidate, I can't agree with the description as McCarthist, but I can grant that it was based on a fair bit of paranoia.  However, given the times in which it was made, not out of context.  Those were paranoid times. (BTW, I thought Sinatra did pretty good...for a night club singer! :) )

Great movies, and plenty of great movies are still being released.  Get a Netflix subscription and enjoy enjoy enjoy every movie you ever lusted to watch.

I have Netflix 3 at a time/no limit plan and I do enjoy it a lot.

I think Blockbuster has a comparable plan, but they ripped me off for so many years with late fees that I will never do business with them again just on principle.:mad:
