Of the "active" types... gotta go with Lewis Black.

On the other end... George Lopez is so bad he makes Dane Cook seem funny.

too hard to define 1 single comedian, even Pauly Shore had a funny moment :D

Lewis Black before politics:

Carlin did a bit about crabs, and things walking at him sideways with big pincers... made me cry for 1/2 hour. I have to say one of the cleanest bits he has done, and I remember about 6 AM watching this with a friend, laughing SO hard we woke up my mother, she came down stairs, and we had her watch this.... imagine a serious proper Christian woman watching this with her son, and literally in tars over this bit, taking her glasses off to wipe tears!!
FOUND IT!!!!

BEST BIT EVER!

whole show:
Carlin at Carnegie

The first time I heard Cosby's dentist routine :aok :lol

then when Eddie Murphy said "have a coke and a smile and shut the %^$ up" I almost died :rofl

Sam Kinison blew my head off with his bit on starving people and sand!!!!

overall fav until he got sick political has got to be Carlin though:

Dave Chapelle is the best...
Goes into a club and doesn't even have a routine. He just talks and is hilarious.

eric morecambe,

he was funny as hell, and was probably the king of the brit comedians in the golden era between the 50's and 70's when the brit's had a ton of great comedians and ruled comedy.

imo most comedians these days are just crass vulgar unfunny idiots. adam sandler is the worst. he's so annoying that every time i see him i have to resist  the urge to smash the crap out of the tv.

It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Mitch was a very troubled young man.....but funny as hell.  which is actually the case with most comics.
