Perhaps they KNOW something we don't?

Make you wonder.

Perhaps the party is changing TOO much?
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

14 years in the House would probably be enough for me too.  It's not meant to be a lifetime position.

Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you

The Dems saw something similar in the 90's... a bunch of long term representatives retired after the Republicans took control.   It's not very fun being in the minority party :(

George Will sums it up nicely.

The road to a GOP minority

"Seven weeks have passed, and nothing has happened. Young, 74, one of whose former aides pleaded guilty to bribery charges involving the jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff, is the subject of an FBI investigation concerning another matter and faces strong opposition to a 19th term. Recently two more House Republicans — the total is now 28 — announced their retirements, evidence that Republicans do not expect to soon end their minority status that began 17 months after the Coconut Road earmark alteration."
