W.I.P. Spitfire Mk V Template
« on: March 03, 2008, 08:39:43 PM »
Decided to make a Spit Mk V template next, using my Spit I template as a starting point (not unlike how Vickers Supermarine used the Mk I as a starting point for the Mk V...).

Wanted to be a bit more realistic this time with the rivets layers so I've tried to use both domed head rivets and flush ones.  This is a WIP so far, still missing some details and needs to be cleaned up, nothing here is final.  Once it's done it should be good for many skins as the Mk V served in probably every theatre in probably every paint scheme. :)

Mix of domed and flush rivets on rear fuselage (jpg quality sucks, sorry).

Flush riveted wing

Still have to do the rivets and change the panel lines to Mk V version on the underside.

BTW, anyone know who did the default skin?  Great internals.

Here's my ride from a past life... Sorry, no Vokes filters available.  Call it an Abourkir mod. ;)

I was thinking the same thing looking at those.  I sure wish HTC would fix the noses on the Spitfire I, V and Seafire II.

Yeah there's a few polygons missing here and there, I wish they'd fix the elevator horn to the proper 45 deg, looks ugly as it is.

Bruv119:  That's the plan, may take a bit longer this time as work is getting busy.

Kazan_HB:  Nonsense, your skin looks great, I'm planning to do one with Dieppe stripes too, different squadron though.

Yes, the nose profiles on those is wrong.. Too long and slender.

Widewing: I think folks also dislike the flat "cromag brow" over the engine. I could live with a small angle difference (personally -- if I had to) but I seriously dislike how the upper nose was done. Square, blocky, even on the early models.

That's just my opinion, but I know others share it.
