Sketch, I think Batfink figured out the "Setup Camera Shots" feature. It will track the plane(s) for you without the use of padlock. 
If you read his second post, third one down right after Moot's.... there is the answer....
He most likely had it setup with the 'snap' view, because of how it looked in some of the shots. Trust me, I have made a few films.
Doens't matter right now cause he will work on it some and clean it up and will look great most likely.
