Frame rate dropped dractically
« on: March 03, 2008, 11:56:26 AM »
Hey all S!,
Just last Friday all the sudden my fram rate dropped drastically(Its at 8-12 most of the time now, which just doesnt work well). I was getting around 25 in very busy areas with lots of smoke to 45ish in most places.

I am running Vista, 2G RAM, NVIDIA geforce Go 7600 Vid card, core 2 duo processors @1.7Ghz. Anyone have any ideas on what has happened?

I've run Reg cleaners/virus scanner/spyware/defrag and generally looked around my comp to see what might be causing the issue. I've shut off my virus software and everything else, doesn't seem to make a difference. Any input would be greatly appreciated. S!

Heat related?

What does the in-game 'Variance' line in the 'Net Status' graph look like when you are online?

I'll check the status next time I am logged on.

Yes, I am using a laptop. The power cable is always attached so I don't think that the computer is powering down.

The Variance in Delay has some pretty big spikes that flat line up around the "top" of the graph. Is this due to heat issues? And is there any way to lower the heat my vid card is producing? Thanks.

take a screen capture with the graph up and post the picture. Not sure if heat would cause a variance problem like that.

It appears you have something running in the background on that computer which is stealing too much time away from the CPU preventing the game from running its best.
