Aces & 8's
« on: March 22, 2008, 03:27:33 AM »
I wanted to pass along a thank you from my CO Tracerx.

I was unable to attend tonight, but according to him, not only did USMC / 71sqn have a very enjoyable and productive evening, but they also enjoyed some of the most organized and effective fighter escort that Tracer has seen in FSO. (and Tracer has seen A LOT of FSO's :) )Compliments of Aces & 8's.

As I remember you guys are fairly new to FSO, but it seems you have learned what FSO is really all about, very quickly.

Well done  :salute

Thanks for taking care of our squad.

:salute Thank you SLED. I'm not sure I can speak for the squad as a whole, but, I'm sure they will join me in saying "Thank you" for the compliment. We try our best and strive to keep our motto alive...."Teamwork, Honor and Respect". We base all of our "squad" work on that principle. I do believe that this is the FIRST ever FSO event we have been a part of. Some of us have taken part in other SEA events such as DGS. This has been a great learning experience thus far...at least for me anyhow. I'm sure, unless things change, Aces & 8's will be seen more often in the FSO events.
Like I said above, I can't speak for the squad as a whole, but as far as I'm concerned...It was my pleasure to escort your attack mission. Though I was dispatched by a P39-D enroute to target...Traps kept my head spinning while I gunned for him. <S> Traps, thanks for not gettin' us killed in the "mele' ".  :salute

It was a pleasure gaming with a great squad. You worked together and kept us informed. We weren't as prepared as we would have liked for flying the zeke or defending against the 39 and it showed but it will add to our learning curve. Your compliment is especially rewarding and will be passed on to all our brothers. We have found a great place to work on our squad skiils and teamwork in FSO, we can only hope we can be a benefit to the events. Thanks for everything.

Side note:  :rofl  it was halarious to watch TracerX, Traps, and Nos???.<something, can't remember name sorry senior moment> flying around C51 dragging the 39's through the he** trying to get to you guys (and gals),,,only wish Tracer had lived through to see the end of it. Sorry we didn't survive to escort you home to enjoy a brandy on the flight deck  :frown:  You guys gave it a glorious shot.

Salute from Aces & 8's, look forward to flying with you again in the future.

Hunter, when I saw all those P-39's coming our way long before target, I was sure the attack was going to be blown.  You guys tied them up and gave us time to escape.  The outstanding thing was that not only did you survive, you came and found us again, and escorted us the rest of the way in.  Excellent work, and we couldn't have done a better job ourselves.  We lost only one plane until just before we made it back to the CV.  That is great work considering we were flying gasoline soaked kites that go up in flames with as little as a menacing glance from an allied pilot.  It was fun dancing in the ack with the P39's too.   :aok

Thank you both for the kind words. The Aces & 8s will always strive to do our best during FSO and all things Aces High related. I'm sure the Aces & 8s will become a familiar sight within FSO.
