SNS Tonight March 30, 8:00 PM Eastern
« on: March 30, 2008, 03:34:29 PM »
Tonights Sunday Night Scramble (SNS) will begin
at 8:00 PM Eastern / 5PM Pacific US Time

Tonights mission is a Pacific Fleet Engagement.

The IJN will face off against the US Pacific Fleet
in a massive air to air and ship to ship battle.

Each team will have 4 Active Carriers defended by
an additional 5 Fleets.  The objective is clear.

Destroy Each Other.

The ships have been hardened to withstand massive
bombardment by 8" Triple Guns and Torpedos.

C85 is the IJN Flagship and will include along with
the standard planeset, the A6M5 and the Nik.
Loss of this ship will result in the unavailability
of these planes on the other CVs.

C95 is the US Flagship and will include along with
the standard planeset, the F4U-C and F4U-D.
Loss of this ship will result in the unavailability
of these planes on other CVs.

This will be a 2 hour event, with 4 total lives.
Lives will be set with a 30 minute death limit.
You can lose 1 Life per every half hour.  If you
perish, wait.  Defer to your Side CO as to secondary
orders and organize the next flight while you wait.

Fleet to Fleet engagement will be a significant
factor in this battle.  You will need a Fleet Admiral
to coordinate the engagmenent.  You will need Captains
manning the individual fleets to evade torpedos and
position the fleet to best attack the opposition.
Fleet management will be crucial in making sure you
are not turning a fleet while a flight is launching.
There will be no Do-Overs on life limits for such mistakes.

You will need an Air Controller to coordinate
the Air to Air battle.

In short, this is orchestrated chaos.  The side who
manages this best will win.

50% of the score will be on ships destroyed.
50% of the score will be on plane losses.

Total number of Ships Killed divided by % of each country
Total number of Planes Killed divided by % of each country
Points Range is between 0 and 600.

The Fleets will be stationed in a 4 x 4 square grid
between 11-6 and 14-6 East to West down through
11-3 and 14-3 generally.

Upon the start of the frame, the seas are Open.

If you lose an object, it is gone, so be aggressive
but careful.  Guns and Ships are set to remain down
throughout the frame. If you cannot see a particular plane
at a particular fleet, that means it's not available.

Arena Settings are generally Main Arena Standard.
Ship Hardness is increased to allow for massive bombardment
of the fleet.

Visibility is set to 17 Miles
Radar is on full for both sides, the objective is to
find each other and fight, not hide.

Have fun

Is this a walk on, be there 15 minutes before the start kind of thing?  If so, I will try to make it as it sounds fun.

If the link is not working, look under Logs, SNS, Pacific Fleet Battle.

I'll be scoring the effort in a bit, and posting it in the SnS Forum.

Looked fun :)

Final Score.

Grueling Battle.  Ship Hardness wreaked havoc on the typical approach to sinking ships.  The battle raged on the waters of the Pacific, ships went head to head throwing massive amounts of ordinance at each other.  The air to air battle was originally believed to be significantly in the favor of the US forces.

End Result?

IJN sank 7 of the US Ships while the US devastated the IJN Fleet by sending 13 ships to the bottom.

US took the Fleet to Fleet portion scoring 195 points against the IJNs 105.

The air war, however, took a different turn.  The IJN rallied in the air and removed 80 US Planes from the air while the US downed 38 of the IJN Forces.

The IJN took the Air to Air engagement scoring 203 points against the US 97 points.

The IJN Eaked Out a slight overall victory with 308 points against the US 292 points.

Impressive, radically different strategies, radically different outcomes, and a very very close race.

Thank you all for attending, it was a pleasure to put on and a pleasure to watch unfold.
