twenty fo.. I actually agree with you on this.. at least partly.

It is indeed the fault of the employers.   They are the real culprits.  I do not blame anyone for trying to feed a starving family even if it means breaking some law.. especially a law that seems to be ignored by just about everyone.

I have said for years now that the way to solve the problem is to put the employers in jail.. a mandatory 6 months sentence in prison along with a fine and.. any contractor who was hurt by this unfair labor practice should be able to sue.

The fly in the ointment is...  You don't jail an employer who hires illegals that have documentation... even fake.

The government is to blame here.

If I buy a handgun... within hours..  many many things are known about me.. including my citizenship status and criminal record and many other things.  a fake ID will never work.

This could easily be done for any job.  no national id..  just a background check like for firearms... answer in hours "no, Jesus's SS number is on the fraud list and is being used by 4,900 other people.. do not hire"

If a worker gets a clean bill of health on the background check.. the employer is free to hire him and even if it is proved later that he is an illegal.. no crime by the employer.

If.. the check comes back negative or the employer is found to be manipulating the check..  then..   the mandatory jail time and fines etc come into play.

Anyone have a problem with that?

I don't know, Steve- maybe they lost their driving priveledges in Mexico? I didn't even know you needed a license there.

You can't expect me to know everything. :)

You most definitely need a license to drive in Mexico. Mexicans also need Mexican insurance to drive there. There is a big difference in Mexican insurance and US insurance that's why you need to purchase a Mexican insurance policy to drive there as US posilcies won't cover you past the 17 Km point IIRC. Few, if any, Mexican policies provide coverage in the US as well.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I went and asked some police officers...

Just so people know... it's perfectly legal to restrain the guy fleeing the scene (ex: induce unconciousness with a choke.. clock, cross-collar, rear naked, triangle). It's not legal to beat him up while doing it, so you can't mount him and start raining punches. It has to be a selective use of force.. but you can use force.

I wish I had known that at the time. Even with the cops being that fast... I still coulda got to choke the guy.  :furious
I failed my coach & training partners. :(

...And my pooch is healing up fine. He's got himself in a splint for 4 more weeks, more x-rays, but that should be it. Less damage than the vet expected, and unlikely he'll need surgery to fuse the joint.

and I have survived the week of hell. Business trip, car totalled, emergency vet trip, moved into a new apartment, hauled heavy furniture, got a new HDTV, test drove 7 new cars, and the only damage left on me personally is the scabs from where the seat frame took skin off my back. I feel like superman right now.
