Brainstorming:Climb rate advantage, Strategy?
« on: April 03, 2008, 06:51:27 PM »
What is the best strategy and techniques for a dissimilar 1v1 when the opposing plane is decidely superior in turning and your plane's advantage basically boils down down to climb rate/weight-to-power ratio?

Rope sounds like a good idea there, or spiral, same difference.  Use flaps at the top to get the best out of the rope though.

Basically you're going to want to use your advantage in climb to gain an E advantage over the enemy, in a final effort to convert that extra E into a kill.  That doesn't necessarily mean to out climb him so much that you gain a 5k advantage and then BnZ him to death, although you could.

When you have an advantage in climb (especially if you beat him in a zoom climb too) you're going to want to keep the fight continuously going uphill.  Use maneuvers like spiral climbs, Immels, high yo-yo's, Chandells (sp) , etc, until you have built a what in your opinion is a good E advantage.  When you have built up an E surplus, then, a rope is a viable option.  Go up and give him what he thinks is a good shot, but one that is giving him bad odds, and is putting him in a bad position once he stalls.  Basically if he bites, go up hard.  When he stalls, or you sense/see that his wingtips are wobbling or that he's about to stall, you can drop down on him.  If you think you have a shot take it.  You can also follow him down if he tries to gain separation or doesn't break to hard.  If he noses down and then brakes hard into you with a turn you can't hope to follow due to your excess speed, try high yo-yoing over him, keeping your hard gained E adv.  If you have alt though, and have built up an E adv, expect them if they're smart to dive away if you high yo-yo or give them a chance to so that they can build up E and make you try to chase them down, which will eventually make you lose E, so that your respective E levels get closer to each other (or at least that's what I would do).

Basically, bring the fight into the vert, and try to build up an E adv/ make them burn their E, and then go for the kill :aok.
