"Abeville Kids go East" AAR
« on: September 02, 2001, 05:23:00 PM »
It went just like in history more or less.

Germans did well against aerial targets
but werent able to save the Wermacht's ground targets from the deadly Sturmoviks.

This were the losses and claims:

VVS
102 Ground targets destroyed-->510 points
8 aircraft and 5 tanks destroyed-->130 points
total points: 640

GERMANS

24 Ground targets destroyed (3 big)->135 points
20 aircraft destroyed-->200 points
total points: 335

So we may say that the result was a moderate success for the VVS, but the losses were still heavy.

PS Someone was not happy with the distance between the russian fields and the enemy structures.
The event was actualy tying to depict the situation of a salient being under attack by VVS, and in that salient there were only german ground forces, the soviets instead had very close airfields, wich were just there also before the germans managed to create the salient.Historically too it resulted difficult to stop the Sturmoviks coming low and undetected until near the target, or attacking close targets.
But just like in history, several il2 were catched and destroyed, especially on the return trip.
BTW maybe the VVS was really a little to much close to targets, this will be considered in the development of future scenarios....
Please consider also that we had to convert this event from the Baltic to the SFma terrain, and the online problems with the Baltic terrain were discovered only yesterday. And few time was left to recce the new terrain...and discover that there are so many knights structures far East of the HQ in this terrain.
