How much ammo is given for the guns on the 17s now? I'm just wondering, as I'm sitting here watching a show about bombers on The History Channel. They had a bit about the Memphis Belle, and the narator (pilot of the Belle I believe) talked about the .50s for a minute, saying that they only carried 1000rds per gun because of the weight.
The also had some footage of 17s coming home and landing all shot up. One was missing 3/4 of it's nose and another was missing a good 2/3 of it's vert stab. Amazing birds =)
