Any squad qualify?
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:12:44 PM »
Hey guys...

I have played AH off and on over the years, my first contact being in 2001. I think the largest thing missing from my experience and why I have drifted off is a lack of cohesion and a group of regular pilots to squad with. I wasn't part of a squad. I tried a few out, but they turned out to be inactive. Or they turned out to be giant blobs of people, and you feel lost and unknown. I'd like to give it another try.

Now my problem is this. This summer is my last semester of school (I am 21 years old) , and I'll be graduating. However, until then, I attend night school from 5:30-9:30EST on Mon-Thurs. I work in the IT field (pc/desktop repair, network design and development, server integration, etc) and I work Mon-Fri 7-4PM EST. I know my hours are a bit odd during the week, only allowing me an hour or two during the week, if I can make it at all. I'll admit, 16 hour days can hurt. (I live an hour away from work heh).  But on Fri evening and the weekend, I do enjoy playing games.

However, I am worried that my hours are not active enough for most squads. This was a problem during my last stint with AH, and I found myself flying the lonely skies. I am not asking people to get on at 10:00PM EST and fly with me. I'm just asking for a squad that is 18+, with like-minded working adults. I'm looking for people who share a similar passion and enthusiasm for aviation, but understands life comes first.

Not only the above additions, I'm looking for a squad that works as a team. They fly tactics, with wingmen. I am not much of a furballer, I'd much rather run missions (via bomber escort, ground attack, etc) and capture territory. I have no real plane preference, although I find myself lingering towards the e-fighter/BnZ types such as the F4U's, P-38, etc... Not much of a TnBer. Looking for a cohesive, tactical squad.

Anyhow... if anyone up there could accomodate such an individual let me know =) I'd be real interested in speaking with you and maybe running a few with you guys a few nights to kind of get a feel for one another. I'm looking for a long-term commitment, not just a one night stand =)

Give the claim jumpers a look. We are pretty much on the same page as you are as far as work and play time. Our squad night is usually Friday nights around 1030 est. We go to FSO when possible and are pretty tight. Come fly with us and see how we play. We have no demands as far as try outs and just like to have fun.

Don't fly with Shifty's group they like to talk trash and give noobs a hard time....wait a minute I think all of the squadrons on here do that.

VF-17 has loose hours or so I have been told by the new staff over there. But Shifty's boys are pretty good to have a blast with. Enjoy and pick wisely my young padawan.

VMF-251 is on the lookout for pilots.

We fly in FSO on Fridays at 11pm EST, and our main squad night is Saturdays at 9pm EST. We predominantly fly the F4U Corsair (hardly a strict BnZer). We're working on developing team and wingman tactics.

I'm not sure if we "qualify" or not...

We dont ever have a "squad night" and we dont ever run formal missions.

The flip side is we have 70+ members and you'll always find a few of us online. We dont have formal wingman tactics yet when ever a thread on "toughest" wingman combos shows up we have alot of guys mentioned. A couple nights ago a friend from another squad happened to join cbizkit and I for a few hops and commented it might have been some of the best "winging" he'd been around (this from a guy in a squad well known for winging togeather).

If your looking for an organized squad with formal squad nights etc...we're no it. If however your looking for a good bunch of guys who look out for each other, fly well togeather and are always looking to find the action consider flying with us a bit. We fly knights and use vox 171 (we have 3 wings and 70+ so we cant use "squad vox" + we often have guys from other squads on channel as well)...

Hello, VMF-312 is a newer Bish squad looking for more members. We fly the F4U's mainly but I enjoy flying quit a few different planes, the F4U's are my favorite. We have small numbers right now and mainly have been meeting up on Tuesday but I'm on mainly Fri night and Sat-Sun through out the day.

I generally like flying missions from CV's or attack mission of some sort, but have been flying lots of fighter/Bomber sweeps to start the month. I prefer the TNB but do BNZ. I fly under Tex01

forgot to add I play in the AVA and their running the "Battle of Aces" for the next month or so and their should be lots of team work involved in that.
