Headphones and Mic
« on: June 17, 2008, 11:01:51 AM »
I was curious how many of you fly with speakers vs. headphones.  I prefer using my speakers, but at the same time want to have a mic.  I'm sure there are times I will need to use the headphones instead of my speakers.  My question is, can you recommend a good pair of headphones with a mic that I can have the option of plugging in the mic only when needed?  If you have bought a pair on-line please provide me a link if you can.

Also, maybe a good powder? These S.A.P.P. issue chaps are making my thighs chafe.

Do you have the option to use the mic and not the headphone speakers with it?

no, because it is USB. my old one wich was regular 1/4" headphone jack I could wear the headphones around my neck for teh Mic and use the comp speakers. But I have come to like the headphones better.

I use sound blaster surround sound speakers and the mic part of a headset.

I have the option of going to headset if I want, but the surround speakers make it easier to notice where GV's are (in front or behind).  For the mic, as others have done, I hang the speakers around my neck and point the mic up.

Expensive set of headphones-mic combo. Without that, I would have driven the wife out of the house long ago ... or vice-a-versa ... :D

i have a 5.1 surround system but i use my headphones cuz i can control the front, rear, center and bass with my headset. I use the razer barricuda headphones and they rock has an ok built in mic. with headphones the volumes are all at my fingertips and i can adjust to hear planes coming up on me. That and a good headset will blockout all unwanted noise and lets you concentrate on dogfighting. the X-fi extreame gamer sound card i have helps a ton also you can hear the bad guy trying to sneak up on you. i forgot my headset is 5.1 surround and the woofers in it will blur your vision, it has 8 seprate drivers.

I've got a set of Klipsh 2.1 Speakers (they rock) and a Logitec mike I got at Best Buy sitting right in front of me.  The mike has a long neck so I don't have to bend or do anything but talk.  No interference from the speakers.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

I use a set of Turtle Beach headset. It has 5.1 surround sound (four speakers in each ear cup) and a very good mike. My Simpit has 11 speakers hooked up to 5.1 surround. About the only time I use the speakers is when the families out  :devil

This is the headset I have, tho I did get mine on Ebay at about 30% off.
