X-52 Button problems
« on: June 15, 2008, 07:31:16 PM »
Wife got ma an X-52 for fathers Day, I got it installed just fine.  XP recognizes it and when I check it in windows, every button, knob , switch and slider registers ok and works just fine.  When I get in AH, I go to configure it and all the buttons show up, I am in mode 1 but when I press certain buttons like the mouse or scroll wheel/buttons nothing highlughts on the clipboard. It's not every button, just a few.  I have the latest drivers and device manager says everythings cool.

Any suggestions?

Huh. Never seen this problem...when I put my X52 onto my new computer it worked like a plug-n-play. Have you tried installing the SST software? I don't think it'll do much...but I don't think it would hurt.

Jolly, congrats on the stick,I use one and like it most of the time. :D

I do not know how to program them, but the 2 "WHEEL" hats on your throttle can be programmed in the SST programming software, but I just dont use them, well yes,it is because I dont want to hassle programming them, but dont really need them right now, there are some that do..And you are right, you WONT see those "WHEELS" in the game, they can ONLY be programmed through the SST programming, either as an AXIS or as BANDS..

The mousey mover thingy-jig-a-ma-bob is not useful for much as far as I am concerned, and I do believe it can be programmed, but you wont see it in-game either..

The  small button next to your mousey cursor mover IS in-game,and you will find which button it is if you press it,and make it whatever you like..

do a search for x-52 profiles, there are a lot,and you will get a taste of what it is to program  the stick, and just what it can do..many people dont like it,but I like it alot, thats why I wanted it,so I could have more buttons programmed than I could remember.. :lol

                                               Have fun with it..

The SST programing has been hosed up for awhile now. I got rid of it completely and am a lot happier without it. I don't even use those buttons on the stick. I just use my mouse for stuff like that or the scroll keys on the keyboard commands.

I use the little joystick on the throttle for mouse panning. (hit shift-m to toggle on and off)
I use the SSt software to map the x 52 buttons to keyboard commands....
the two wheels on the throttle (and the slider) I mapped as analog inputs on the in game mapping as aileron and elevater trim. The slider as rpm

you have to have your mouse buttons and your mouse wheal all set to "unlatched" in the SST program for them to work in the game.

Heres how I set mine up, "and it took me months to figure all this out and get it where I want it". In the AH game itself I set my Hat-1 views to all my flat angle views, front/up being the exception. The 3 throttle buttons function/start stop/reset, I also assigned in AH modes to trim rudder left/check 6/trim rudder right. Of course my axis and throttles are set in Aces High.

Everything else I have assigned in Saitek SST software. One word of advice. If your going to use the SST software you will probably find many of the 2 key function map settings wont take in SST. For instance if a function is mapped shift/c in AH key map then the SST assignment wont take. So what I had to do was take some functions in AH key mapping and change their key maps to a 1 key map and then map and assign in SST.

This usually de-maps some functions in AH but there are a lot of functions you just dont need to have mapped at all.

So basically I ended up with a non-standard mish-mash of map settings and assignments using both SST and the game map functions.. However together they work in harmony. Just make sure you write down what you re-assign key maps to.

If you want send me a PM and I'll send you the SST profile I created. I have 1 SST profile I use with settings for bombers/Jabos/fighters.

I also hope you bought the rudder controls as well. Your going to need them.

yes in order for you to use the scroll wheels and dials and stuff on the throttle ud have to map them in sst software i recomend getting the newest version cause it will let u make the clutch button useful for something and you can set a different key as a shift button instead of the pinky

my views is controled by the main hat on the joystick for flat veiws +the pinky switch for all the up views it works well.

you can also map the trim wheels as somethign else like veiw modes using sst id recomend it  for just the stuff you cant map in ah and use ah for the rest.
