Remote Desktop peer to peer under Vista.

I have my desktop, and a laptop running Vista64.

they are both on the same network and can file and print share just fine..

I want to be able to remote into the laptop from the desktop but am having issues doing so..

when I try to browse for it I get nothing for a long while then the message:

THE WORKGROUP domain/workgroup does not contain any terminal servers.

both systems have "allow remote assistance connections to this computer"  enabled.

and under advanced "allow this computer to be controlled remotely" is checked.



Any ideas?

I googled the problem and have found an interesting issue..

in all the "how to"s I find one of the first steps shows THIS:



however on mine, the only part you see is the TOP box where it says "allow remote assistance.. etcetc"

the bottom part that says "remote desktop, click an option, and then specify.. etc etc etc..  is simply NOT there.

try connecting by typing in the computer name, rather than browsing.  Borwsing only seems to work on domain, with a true terminal server.  This SHOULD work for you

yea, i tried just typing it in, just sites there forever never getting a response

I'm not sure if it does the same thing as XP, but in the Home edition of XP even when enabled it won't work.  XP Home, has the option but is not supported by programming.

Nevermind, i just used realVNC insted, works perfect.
